Are we the only department still waiting for New Scott air packs (3.0 50's) after 15 weeks and five (I've almost lost count) push backs? We ordered the first week of November. They're not even expected until sometime in early March, as if I haven't heard that before. This is rediculous!!!!!!

You'll need to be patient. The military uses Scott products, and they (not surprisingly) get first priority. Two summers ago, one of our mutual aid companies ordered a full SCBA replacement (in Scott 4.5's) that was due to be delivered in December 2001. Needless to say, a sudden surge in military (and at least one major city's) orders for Scott respiratory protection products that fall backed general fire service deliveries up...to almost April 2002 in this case. I suspect something similar is happening to you.
This isn't a conspiracy, it isn't incompetence on the part of Scott, or whatever else you may think. It's just that the country's priorities have shifted a bit and things are moving fast in the world...and you're going to have to wait it out in line behind the troops.
And rightly so.

Along with Bob's point I think most of the major SCBA manufacturers got buried at the end of the year by orders from Dept's wanting to get in under the wire before the new 2002 standard kicked in requiring HUD's and RIC connections. The new requirements would add $700+ to each pack. We just took delivery of new MSA SCBA ordered in late Nov, early Dec and they were over 2 months later than projected.

We ordered Scott pak50s..hud and all. We talked to the Scott factory and our rep and were told that we were getting the first of the shipment of the new SCBA. This was to be in early March. We went ahead and ordered before the deadline for the hud and all, but decided to get the HUD, voice transmitter, Rit connectors, and av3000 masks. A very expensive SCBA, but I hope the wait will be worth it.
