I work in a large city. The company that I work for is inspected by the fire department for code violations and hazardous materials. Codes are inspected by their fire prevention division and hazmat inspections are done by their hazmat division for a graduated fee. Our fee for inspection is $800.
Of course, I'm thinking; what a great way to add monies to the fire department hazmat services. But then, I figure everyone will say that they pay taxes.
My question is: does anybody else charge for inspections and if so, did an ordinance or law give you the authority to charge or do you do it free of charge?
