I need someone with some real expertise in FF and the law to PLEASE give some assistance. I am a volunteer ff in Pennsylvania and our department has been having a discussion in regards to what firefighter training is mandated by law. We all agree that Hazardous Materials training is required by law but from here we differ. I know that between NFPA and others there exist a plethora of "professional standards" but, I don't believe these standards to be laws. Does anyone have knowledge of any laws that mandate any particular training other than hazardous materials and if so where can I access information on these laws?
I appreciate any help that anyone can offer!

Several areas can be considered mandated by federal law, among them:
HazMat - 29CFR1910.120
Respiratory protection - 29CFR1910.134
Confined Space - 29CFR1910.146
Bloodborne Pathogens - 29CFR1910.1030
Industrial Fire Brigades - 29CFR1910.156
Most (all?) also have laws that require specific training for firefighters. The Texas Commission on Fire Protection standards are laws, and apply to career fire departments. Volunteer departments can voluntarily comply with the Commission standards. The State Fireman's and Fire Marshal's Association generally handles volunteer training and their standards are not binding in law, but would probably be used as a reference in a lawsuit against volunteers.
Call your state association, commission or equivalent.

Check with OSHA or PA's equivalent to OSHA. They make laws. NFPA comes up with standards that OSHA sometimes includes in their laws.

You have an excellent publication in your area, The Pennsylvania Fireman. A letter/email/call to them would get you the info you need, or they can tell you where to go to get it. Best Wishes. Stay Safe....
