I dont know if this has been talked about, but when I
first heard of it, I thought maybe it was just some
type of nice gadget. Nope, I have been using Telestaff
for a little while and I am pretty impressed. It is a
program, mainly for larger departments that tracks
staffing, overtime, sickleave, unit manpower, etc.

I was able to find some links with more information-

http://www.9-1-1magazine.com/magazine/1998/0998/depts/cn.html

You get the idea, just run "telestaff" through a search
engine and see what comes up.

You mean "Teleshaft"?

It may make the lives of the department's scheduling office easier but it's a pain in the butt for everyone else to use. It's biggest problem is it's counterintuitive. If you're in a position in a department where you'll be talking to the vendor, you should seriously consider all the facts and make sure the vendor is aware of and designing for your needs.

My department had a bandwith problem the first week it was live. Seems the vendor didn't listen and didn't anticipate the number of simultaneous logons. And that was just the first week.

 Sounds like you must be in the Bay area, that is "old School stuff". We have that but is an Intranet based program using the latest in technology, not a Dot Matrix based system like what you are describing.

:D
