Try us, PAJ...we're a non-judgemental crowd, we have liquor and we just good people.
But hey...some times we just need to not talk....you're call! We'll get you home safely. Say...I see your car keys on the bar...what do you drive? Tell me it's a stick shift....I miss mine; I've been mourning it for 2 weeks now.

Hey JoJo!!! You've been missing everyone every time you come in here. Nice to see you again. What you drinking? Leuit will get it for you, I'm busy dancing. What you want to dance to Josh...I must've missed the offer, sorry! I sure didn't mean to step on anyone's toes! Hha ha! Pun intended!
Wondering if we have a license to allow minors to drink in here! Yep, just found it! Drink away, Paris, I don't think anyone else drinks Vodka around here. Probably dust inside that bottle.

343--We know better than to card people...actually maybe we should, it may make them feel young again! Hey, have you ever noticed that you can't make good chocolate milk? You can't just mix milk & chocolate syrup and get it to taste right. You have to buy the chocolate milk as is. Ever noticed that? Why is that?

Smirnoff is devil juice! keep away from it!
Tequila is fun though, only just getting over my last aquaintence with it, i ended up promising myself i would never drink it again after i took down a bottle.
You know how everyone has a drink that they just can not drink because of a bad experience with it, Smirnoff is that drink for me.
Interesting to see what everyone elses is. (most my friends cant take tequila because they try to match my tequila consumption shot for shot and wake up very unhappy the next day)

Leuit, I test drove a 94 Accord, stick. (I had a 94 Civic). That baby drove so well I just thought I was in heaven. I wanted to get the car right then and there. I just felt power when I drove it...control...heck, I don't know how to explain it. But they wanted way too much, over blue book, and it didn't have power anything. I kind of got used to power locks & power windows. I'm still dreaming about that dang car! And same for me...always had a stick.

My 2005 Pontiac Wave (Chevrolet Aveo to you in the USA) is my first stick and I think I've mastered it! :D Before that I drove a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado 4x4 4 doors, and a 1994 Toyota Tercel.

I think my next vehicle is gonna be a Wrangler Unlimited with a 6 speed. Gotta stick with the Jeeps..I'm on my 2nd Cherokee Sport and I love them...Plus Jeep is still doing the $500 off for Fire/EMS/Police. After all the miles I put on for medic class, I'll need a new one fairly soon after I finish.

I only like: Smirnoff Ice, Mike's Hard Lemonade and Bacardi Breezer. I'm NOT a heavy drinker. I had 2 Smirnoff Ice one night, that's my record. Normally one at a time. Addictions are rampant in my family, and I'll be going to school in September taking Addictions Services Counselling.

I like it with the syrup, but only if you use a motorized mixer for it. Gotta love the mini, battery powered, single beater mixer I have. Hehehe. Works great for mixing eggs for scrambled eggs, making milk shakes, whatever.
Anywho, how about another chocolate milk?

Those 2 Smirnoff Ice did something to me because I was out driving (emergency) and went through a red light without "thinking" and someone hit me and never stopped. And the truck didn't even have a scratch but lost my hubcap later. What a fright!

My mates set up a pretty good golf course at the local park about half a year ago, it had 9 holes and a view to die for! Unfortunately it was on a bit of a slope so if you messed up, it was a long walk to the bottom to get your ball. Unfortunately we always played drunk so it never ended well.
The photo kinda shows part of where the course used to be. Unfortunately we let it slip into disrepair and we were to lazy to make it again, not to mention the council slasher always messed up our greens.

What you drinking, JoJo?
What's going on? I guess I'm too naiive (sp?).
Looks wonderful, Patty! I haven't played golf in years. Shot a few buckets here and there, but no playing. Poor man's golf is made with a bunch of PVC piping, shaped in a big "n" with three horizontal lines (one at top, one in the middle and one lower but not on the ground). The top bar counts for 1 point, the middle is 2 points and the bottom bar is 3 points. You have two golf balls have have holes drilled in them with a string between the two (remember the Shakey's Pizza knicker knocker's? Something like that). THen you have to throw the golf balls from about 25-35 feet away and have the golf-ball-string wrap around the horizontal bars.
Now that I've bored ya'll...enough of that.
Leuit's had a lot of practice walking up and down hills today, maybe he's up for a game at your clubhouse?

That sounds like a deadly game to play when you have been drinking. I can see someone deciding to throw the golf balls at someone else to see if they can wrap em around their neck. :D :D

I need another drink...I don't want to admit this in public, but...I've been hearing something where I've got my plants and I looked and I think it was a roach!!!! Yikes. I hate critters. What the heck is a roach doing in my place??? I've never had a bug problem (a snake problem, but not a bug problem). I didn't look close enough...just dumped it. Maybe it was just a cricket, eh?

Poor mans golf! I love that game. Yes I have it and when the wind stops blowing us apart I'll set it up and take a picture. My son is great at it. Have no idea how he can knock someones balls off the way he does. BTW anyone ever play butt quarters. Another good game if you've had enough to drink.

An honor is bestowed,
To a man we "bar-ly" know,
Who's saved two lives,
A goal for which an EMT strives.
When it happens, oh what a feeling
So proud, there's no conceiling,
Most deserving of recognition,
Even though...it's just the mission.
So congrats to Leuit,
Who did prove it,
That in his hands,
A life still stands.
So we honor him,
And raise a limb,
That our work's not for naught,
So here's a toast & another shot!
CONGRATULATIONS, Jeremy!!!!! We're proud! :) :)

I just got back from riding on AirMedic 2. I had a great time and the ride was pretty smooth except for the landing.
We went to the airport in Tallahassee for an airshow PR event and while we were there, launched for Greensboro. The crowd was excited to see us get a mission. The pt had a possible CVA and had a fall. He went unresponsive during the flight and started having snoring respirations upon arrival at the hospital. We took the pt to Tallahassee, then went to the smaller Tallahassee airport for refeuling. After that we went back to the house and sat around most of the day. We did get one standby after that, but didn't have to launch.
I couldn't find a camera to bring with me so no pictures. I will definitely have to ride again.

Thanks everyone for the toast. I just got home from starting my ride time...remind me again why I said I'd do 3 16's in a row...? Ohh yes...So I can get it done quickly...I guess I'll sleep when I'm done...
1219-You lucky SOB...I am looking into doing Medivac when I get my medic finished. The only problem is, I've never been in a chopper before. There's a service that we use out of Hartford CT that does ride alongs...I've been thinking about doing it, but don't wanna have my 1st time in a chopper be for a call and I freak out...

You would be a natural. I would be happy to have a heart problem so I could have you come out on your first ride along.HeHe Oh to be young again and have all those choices.

Great news! I would not be happy if you woke any other way. Sometimes I think I don't even need music to dance. It's all in my head. (That's what I'm always told anyway)But any kind will do. You can sing if you want. So pass me an Earl Gray Decaf please and let's dance. How about a slow one or two to start with.

Ok, whose playing the joke on me this time? Just because I'm blond! On page 67 it looks to me like Paris is having a conversation to herself. There are 6 or 7 posts of nothing but her. Now I know allineedisu was on there to. So what happened to most of his posts. Someone tell me it isn't just my computer. And NO I haven't been drinking! I learned my lesson about having even one drink and playing racquetball. Besides I've been up since 4am and it's only nearly 7am. Even I don't start that early!(well not usually)Someone please explain this to me? Maybe we have some of Sky's Critters in here.

Hey...Glad to see my critters are elsewhere! JoJo...if you're going back to page 67 what the heck are you doing? Are they paying you OT for that investigative work? ;)
Josh, it is nice that you're breathing today and everyday! I always get a kick out of you forwarding folks to previously-discussed threads! (I'm scared to post elsewhere because I think you're going to forward me somewhere so I can't get back! :D )
Did my ER rotation Sat. night. I guess I was expecting more. They just put me in triage...a lot of aches & pains & little chitlins...I should have been in the ambo receiving area then maybe I would have seen more action and ER ops. The other night we got to look at the County Police/Medic Helicopter ops...boy what tight quarters on that little helo! But very interesting!
Iced tea sounds good...gotta work tonight.

Hey Weruj are you out there? I think I saw you floating around. I have a cold so something hot would do nicely. An Irish whiskey with decaf please.

BTW Sky, I'm starting an all out assult on any critters! So if any were pets, you'd better call them in. Yes I am doing some investigating. Just my nature. I am forever asking questions that only lead to more questions, that lead to more. Is there never an end to it. I'm carrying on as I'm sick today. Started a cold yesterday and Weurj hasn't dropped in to talk me into a dance or anything yet.

Ok...1 weekend of ridetime down 4 to go...remind me yet again why I decided to do 3 16's in a row, plus work full time? Ohh yes...I think my signature says it all...
We had an interesting intercept today...A guy riding his bike ran into the back of an unoccupied parked car and went through the rear window. He lost about 2 litres of blood prior to bleeding being controled...He was bleeding from a massive laceration to the right side of his neck. BLS did a great job of getting him packaged and controlling the bleeding. Both my preceptor and I thought he'd be in hypovolemic shock...but his pulse rate was still in the 80's and his b/p was 120 systolic. I started 2 largebore IV's (14's) and we titrated fluids to keep his pressure at about 130 systolic. All in all everyone did a great job of keeping this guy from bleeding out and not going into shock. We found out later he had knicked his carotoid artery.
Well, enough medical mumbo jumbo..I need a tall Sam Adams and a shot....and keep them comming!

boken lap tops, continous drinking, and long work days..........Im so busy I that I havent even had time to get on line on the threads and chat it up. Im so busy but nothing is going on.. TRICKY!! Anyone else find that???
No I do have alot happening, eith the dept., my job, my job search, fundraisers, the band, and the classes Im taking.
I got into this kill time make money till what I want comes along job AND NOW IM STUCK THERE!!! HELP!!! I have been applying everywhere, places I know people, places I dont know anyone. Im eventually want to go for a full time FD job but Im working on the min. requirements. So Im trying to get a job that might corrolate with that or help me with that. OR JUST SOMETHING FULL TIME!!!! Im not picky as long as its not with food. However Im having the hardest time finding something. I apply all over for all kinds of positions that I have experience in, and well Ive had people come right out and say "Your too young", "We're looking for someone whos looking to make a career out of this". I cant help my age and who knows if I get into the job and really like whos to say Ill move on. I dont tell them that that is my intention. Ild really appreciate someone taking a chance and giving me a job because Im a great worker. All my past empoloyers say so, Ive never been fired, and I have experience in so many areas. I dont know what the problem is. But Im running out of time with the job I have because there is only 6 wks left in the school year and then Im unemployed.
Any one have any suggestions?????

JoJo...you can keep the critters! The first year I moved into this zoo, I found baby snakes coming from under the fireplace (from under house...not the fireplace), horse flies, a mouse (I call it a rat), and last year there were yellow jackets making a nest under the outside siding. When the pest-man came and sprayed outside, the next day all the dead yellow jackets were in my basement in a corner! It's just crazy. I've done some work on the house so I haven't had a problem lately....but geez, how much can a person handle???
How are you feeling, BTW??
Rebek...looks like you're kind of down and at a loss for direction right now. It happens to all of us. Just keep looking for a job. My guess is that something in your interviews is tipping people off that you're not going to stay long in the job. What FF/EMS training do you have so far? How old are you? WHat is your past work history?
If you're an EMT have you tried getting on with an ambo/transport service? We've got a lot of young folks at the station who are doing that with just their EMT-B.
YOu know...I've recently learned that I shouldn't be worrying about things (the "what-if" scenarios) until I actually get to that bridge. Often we worry ourselves silly, for no reason, and in the end...God comes up with his plan and it's all good!

Greece was fabulous! I had a drink for you all and have a picture to prove it. Came home with lots of pics and memories. Saw all the major tourist attractions, made a bunch of friends, swam in the ocean, went island hopping. The drivers are just nuts there. Pedestrians DO NOT have the right of way. Seat belts...apparently are for decoration. Thus, the innumerable roadside shrines dedicated to people who were seriously injured or deceased.
Can I pay for my drinks in Euros? And I'll make a greek salad for anyone that wants it.

Geez I get sick for a few days and I come back to gender orientation and Dems doing confessions. The only thing I have to offer is the fun I had yesterday watching the young bison playing. I have made a HUGE greek salad but I need help getting it into the pub. The tables are already set with forks, olive oil and ouzo. OPA!
Sky: I rather suspect you know all about the streets of Greece. I found out I can run like (you know what!) and jump like a deer if need be. Let's just say that the taxis we took operate only at speeds of 160 km/hr. I kid you not. I just looked out the window and made sure my seatbelt was securely fastened. It is crystal clear why there are so many roadside shrines...
Firefighter1219
05-23-2005, 09:29 PM
160 km/hr
That's it? 160 kilometer/hour = 99.4193908 mile/hour (mph) Not all that fast...
You have my address, send me the pictures please.
ROOKIELZ
05-23-2005, 10:51 PM
1219: the population of Greece is ~6 million. Athens has ~4 million. The cars in Athens are small by U S standards. The driving regulations are steadfastly ignored. Basically, anything goes. At 160km/hr I think you can understand why it is often deadly. I'm talking 160 in the CITY!!! This is not on the Autobahn like in Germany. The motorbikes ride where ever they please and will pass on the centre line with traffic in both directions or on the right between the slower vehicle and the curb which may have pedestrians walking on the sidewalk (aka an extra lane.) Add in innumerable scooters which cruise along considerably slower than the other vehicles. You may not think that that speed is fast but it is when given the total driving conditions.
Having said that, here's an ouzo. :)

Hey what's up with weruj? Not feeling well? Hope I didn't give him anything last time we danced. I've been sick for a week. Just working and sleeping.
My local fire chief (as I refere to him around here)was in a bad mood today and he kinda took it out on me on the racquetball court. He felt really bad about it. (hadn't bothered me)Poor guy appoligized 3 different times. So while doing errands today I stopped by with a vase of flowers for him. I figured as scraggley as they looked he may get a laugh out of them. He left work early so he'll get them tomorrow. Oh well, hope they cheer him up. He's a great guy most of the time. Though a bit hard on himself.

Hey Dems nice to see you again. Sounds like you're having a great time on these rides. Would love to come along. You seem to have it together saving the poor guy. I maybe shouldn't laugh, but when I have to call the paramedics for my heart it tends to scare the crap out of the new ones as my heart will stop for about 15 seconds then start again. I am fully concious during this time and let them know I could hear them. The older guys just laugh.

Teddy bear people...
Stan...hmmmmm....don't I know you from a long time ago? Good to see you back.
Ben: Welcome to our cosy corner of the world. What can we get you to eat and drink?

Would love to stay and have a few, but I have
to go pick up 2 kegs and load them on my buddies
boat (big Parker) to take out on the gulf for
the White Trash Bash on Dog Island this weekend.
last year there were about 300 boats out there
and every one ran out of beer, so this year our gang
is comming prepared. Only bad thing is I offered
to not drink at all on Sun so we dont get a BUI
but sometimes its fun to be the one sober person
watching drunk women in bikinis....

I feel so lost and left out! I don't think I should have gotton a day job. Just should have stuck with the investigating and consulting/profiling. But then I wouldn't have enough to buy the house a few rounds. I'm buying, so if anyones around I think I'll leave the depressing talk to someone else. If noones around I'll leave a blank check with Sky, Dems, Rookie or weruij and they can cover my tab.
There seem to be a lot of people on here I don't recognize. So hello to you all and enjoy a page on me.
Last night I typed a total of 72 pages. I will be very pleased when school is out! Will check back in, but must take care of buisness for now.

Would have loved to participate during the 100 page race, but had to transport some people to the ER today~of which is just as fun, well as long as the nurses at the nursing homes can tell you if the pt has mrsa or post mrsa~still don't have a clear answer on that:rolleyes:

Ummm...you hate to ask but just so there is no confusion like before; You a Guy or Chick? doesn't matter for shots, but for the kind of dancing it does.

Don't worry about it JoJo, I'm there too. Brains on one track(assessment/vs) everything else is more or less fuzzy/fried.
