It is not enough to say that Andy Fredricks was a good man and a good firefighter. He was all that so many aspire to be. His grace and intellect coupled with knowledge of firefighting operations made him one of the "real" people in the fire service. Andy wrote about things that we all could use the next day at work. He was well educated with a firefighters mind. He did not have to point out his greatness nor did he ever buy credibility. He simply was a great firefighter.

Like many others I miss Andy. I chose today because I sold my first article on this date and Andrew Fredricks helpedme to do it. Here's to you Andy - You are loved brother.

"At no time should a fog pattern be use in an interior structural attack."

Your quote has grammar problems. Used is the right word.

1075k...

Its the tribute that counts... there are no points off for spelling or grammar. I for one appreciated the thought... as I'm sure any friend of Andy's that saw it did.

I guess thats just the difference between firemen and writers.

"At no time should a fog pattern be used in an interior structural attack." Andrew Fredricks FDNY Squad 18

"A fog pattern can be used in an interior structural attack safely and effectively, depending on application technique, fire conditions and operator skill". Paul Grimwood - London

Andy and I busted each others chops over this thing so many times and spent hours trying to persuade each other each of us were 'wrong'!! I loved the guy.... and Andy - I'm glad you stood your ground bro on this open-ended debate....I respected you for that.

His comittment and dedication to the profession is an example we should all follow and his work will forever motivate young firefighters who are eager to learn from his documented & published experiences in FDNY......Bless you bro.
