Ok, I'm looking for some opinions here. Now that NASCAR is making drivers use one engine to qualify, practice, AND race, what position does this put crew chiefs, drivers, and engine builders? You have all the big name engine guys that will be losing money due to basically a 66% decrease in demand. Also, what do you really concentrate on if you are a crew chief? Onviously, finishing the race (hopefully in 1st)is the essential goal, but then of course there's track postion, especially on the smaller, harder to pass on tracks, where start position is essential. So, do you work the engine to qualify strong, or just start far back and work your way up? Due to Jarrett's blown engine this past weekend, I'm worried about the quality of racing we're going to see from the front runners with this new engine. Really, how often does a Robert Yates engine blow up? That's not a normal event. Is this just going to be another rule everyone despises like restictor plates? I know that further down in the ranks of racing teams can't afford multiple engines, but they also don't hit the speeds and distances that WC does. I have been busy the past couple weeks and have missed a lot of both races so far this season, so I haven't gotten to hear the commentary on this.

Any opinions on where this is going to take Winston Cup?

I don't really think the rule has come into play that much yet. We'll just have to wait and see what happens when a big name blows a motor in happy hour. I still have mixed feelings on the rule as of right now.
