Does anyone know any additional information about the field cesarean covered on the home page? Did the medic have the blessing of medical control? Is the procedure addressed in protocols in FL? Does the department/service have a position on his actions?

I know that in the past field cesareans have caused huge amounts of controversy and cost some well-intentioned medics their jobs. Just curious to see what the case was in this instance.

Pyroknight, I was wondering the same thing. The artical said that there was a supervisor onscene, but even that wouldn't allow for a field cercerian. I guess now I can say I've seen just about everything.

After reading the article, it sounds like they made the best out of a very difficult situation. Thumbs up for that. I hope i am never placed in that situation, because i think my reaction would be to begin ACLS, loan and go like H*LL, or the the online doctor to get his self in a squad car or rig and come to the scene. This is something we have actually discussed in my medic class, due to the prior c-section happening with loss of jobs. Little beyond the scope of care. But i say all of this without ever being in any situation like it, so who knows what I would actually do.
