I was at a ConEd lecture last night and during one of our "off the main topic" discussions someone brought up the new ACLS Guidelines & our protocol on Amiodarone.
As I mentioned in a previous thread on this topic ( http://www.firehouse.com/forums/Forum52/HTML/000035.html ), we are currently using it in a 300mg rapid bolus IV for V-Fib refractory to Lidocaine. (Which would make your drug pattern look like this : Epi 1mg - Lidocane 1.5mg/kg - Epi 1mg - Lidocane 1.5mg/kg - Amiodarone 300mg )
I am curious as to when/how your agency uses this drug. There were some (myself included) who think we are waiting too long into the protocol to give this drug.
Also there was mention in last night of possible drug incompatabilities, but I was never made aware of this issue during our roll out training on the new drug. Anyone else ever hear of this ? (Sorry I don't have a PDR handy or I would look it up myself)
Thanks in advance for your input.
