Has anyone used or have established protocols for the use of Narcan (Naloxone) via a nebulizer treatment? I once read an article on the net about the use or administration of Narcan via a nebulizer treatment, but I have not been successful in finding any other information or others that currently use or administer Narcan via nebulizer.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP...

It's news to me... I would be very interested in hearing about this too. Any info would be appreciated.

Sounds interesting, but why not just give it IM?

Was not Narcan an ET approved drug? If so, nebulizing it makes sence but, generally emergency tx is to increase the resp rate.
If you do not have IV access, I guess you could drop it in the tube then nebulize a tx into the et via bvm

Sounds interesting, but I would be more inclined to drop it down the tube or IV. Less messing around, I think. I would be interested in hearing more, though.

The only benefit that I could understand would be due to the smaller droplets entering the lungs it would crossover into the bloodstream quicker. Of course you would have to hook your nebulizer to your bvm and bag it in due to the decreased resp effort associated with opiods. I guess you could use this method without using an ET tube if you are unable to establish an advanced airway quickly.
If you hear anymore on this isue please e-mail me anyone.
Thanks and stay aware and safe
