Time to replace the 'ol sugar scales...

Anyone have any really GOOD or really BAD things to say about the current lot of glucometers?

Any of them truly exceptional and worthy of the coveted "5 Star of Life" award?

(But SSSHHHHH... don't tell the winner they won, or else they'll start painting a little star-of-life on the damn thing and increase the price by 500% "EMS Approved!" hehe)

I run with three different services, and all three have glucometers, all different manufacturers. I have found all are good, but some have long test times, up to one minute. My favorite is the One Touch, which only takes 30 seconds to read the test strip.
Sure beats the old Dextrostix!!

Have a good day!

We use the glucometer elites in Jax, Fl. There are two models floating around, one that takes 60 seconds, and one that takes 30.
The great thing about them is that you don't have to drop blood on a strip. This one only takes a micron of blood which it vacuums into the strip.

We use the Glucometer Elite, reading in 30 secs. and appears to be accurate, we are satisfied with them.

We use Glucometer Elites. Only takes 30 secs, and it only takes a small amt of blood. No blood enters the unit. But they have to be calibrated often, and don't react well to cold weather. So they have to be checked often. Other than that, we like em.

WE currently use the accutrend alpha. They are prone to inacuracy due to low battery levels and do NOT appreciate being slightly hotter than an Ideal temperature. Have also worked with the Bayer Elite, adn would serously reccomend it as the glucometer of my choice if you were looking to purchase new equipment. Very rugged, easy to use and accurate. Not bad pricing either.
