I've had to carry and use nitroglycerin for the last 4-5 years. I prefer the spray. It works half a blink faster for me. Each spray bottle has 200 0.4 mg doses. The 0.4 mg tabs are okay, but they can get damp, and are easy to drop and then roll away. My tabs come packaged as four bottles with 25 in each. My tabs and spray can be taken up to three times during the first 15 minutes. Spray costs less. Effects and longevity for tabs and spray is same. My vote is for spray.

I've used both Spray & Tablet form nitro (in fact we still carry both in the Med Pouches). My personal opinion is in favor for the spray - it tends to have a greater speed of absorbtion. I believe it is due to the mist particles being dispersed over a large area - as opposed to waiting for a tablet to disolve.
I also have found that patient's would much rather have the spray, instead of a tablet (Found this out from some of my 'frequent flyers').

Well I've used both the spray and the tabs. The tabs are a real pain to try to get just ONE of those tabs out of the bottle and let alone trying to handle them/it with gloves on. The spray also has a longer shelf life I believe cause no outside air or light can contact the med. Spray is the way.

I personally prefer the spray, its easier to use when you have an uncooperative patient who is in pain and they won't lift their tongue. With the spray you can still get it into the mucus membranes of the mouth. It's also a lot easier to handle. Take Care.

Spray, Spray Spray!!!
The Nitro tabs we have access to are .5mg while the spray delivers .4mg. This re-iterates, and is probable argument for the spray.
The bio-availabilty of the .5mg tab and .4mg spray are the same, but the spray IS absorbed quicker. It is also less fussy about exposure to heat an light, and won't de-nature within 30 days after first use, unlike a bottle of tabs

We use the spray. I've used both. The spray is alot easier to administer and seems to work faster. I've had several pts. with CP that have taken 2 or 3 NTG tabs before we arrived with no relief because the tabs were old and they did'nt know how to take care of them. I think a lot of doc's are prescribing the spray for that reason. Spray rules !!
