Have any of you ever had a motor vehicle fire that was caused by the engine flooding while the car was running?
The car in question had been running normally for approx 15 min prior to the fire starting.

Way too little info provided to answer that question. Flooding normally means too much fuel entering the cylinders causing too rich a mixture to ignite. Usually from pumping the gas pedal on a carbureted engine while starting a car that didn't start up right off. Also, can mean a fuel leaking or bypassing the float bowls in a carbureted engine again causing too rich a mixture to start. As most cars now are fuel injected, flooding is an unlikely occurance.
In the instance you refer, the car was running. A fuel leak is more likely, especially on a fuel injection model. The pressure in the fuel supply lines may be 45psi, any pin hole leak or loose connection can spray fuel to an ignition source.

That's a first for me too. Need more info on it. What were the findings of the investigation?
