What is everyone using on airport flightlines for extinguishers? What works and what does not.

We use 150lb dry chemical extinguishers. They are spread out over most of the flightline and are reqired near every aircraft. The most of that is Air Force requiremnets.

stay safe, stay low and stay away from all that glows!

Bobaff,
Just a question for you. Has the Air Force replaced the 150# Halons that used to be on the flightline? I used to work at an Air National Guard Base as a FF and the 150# extinguishers there were Halon. The Air force made us remove the Halon from our P-20, but we were allowed to leave it in the flightline bottles. If they did go to dry chem, geez what a mess in those engines!!

Anyhow, take care and stay safe.

All of the Halon extinguishers are not gone as of yet. There are quite a few left but the dry chemical has become more and more popular. As for the mess that the dry chem's leave; well you can clean up dry chem but we still haven't found a way to replace the ozone layer. Money isn't much of a factor for the Air Force even if they say it is.
