Our 1st due engine has an Akron Apollo deluge gun mounter above the pump panel, pre piped.

Here is the problem: The base for the gun is rather large and cumbersome, and the tailboard is about 10" wide. If I wanted to mount the gun on the tailboard, does anyone have suggestions, or are there smaller guns which would fit on this narrow board better? There is one 3" rear discharge which could supply the gun, so thats not an issue.

Also, are there special mounts for such mouning, or do you have to improvise one??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is a baseplate made that can be mounted on the tailboard. This is the same idea as a mounting base for any other piece of equipment that you may want to mount on the board. When it is time to place the gun in service, you simply disconnect it from the tailboard mount, retrieve the larger base for the gun from a nearby compartment and carry them to the desired location for setting up. I think Akron makes this but am not sure. Local Akron rep can surely help you. Good luck.

Take care out there.

The Elkhart stinger that we use has collapsible legs, making it fairly small. They also sell a tailboard mounting bracket for it.
