Was wondering if anyone had any experience with the last resort uniform belts? They seem fine in theory but was wondering if when in an emergency you would actually have time enough to undo last buckle on coat then undo bunker pants then lace up carabiner or eight plate.
I use a "Gut Belt" as my escape belt. I have attached a padded back support to it in addition so it is also dual function as well as comfortable to wear. I wear it on the outside of my coat so it is easily accessible. If the situation is too grave to hook into a belt and DCD, then a simple wrap of the rope around your waist and anchoring it to the window sill will suffice...and works fairly well i may add having tried it several times. Under turnout type belts are not practical for emergency escape, and if so, they should be extended so the DCD is accessible from the outside. I carry a bag with 60' of escape rope in my pants pocket, 2 carabiners and a section of webbing.

Last Resort Belts are like any other tool in The Fire Rescue Service we must Practice with each tool to gain proffeciancy, Do You wear it every day on duty, is it a part of your uniform if so keep a Biner in your Coat Pocket and practice Placing the Biner until you can do it in the dark, then practice some slow and low bail outs until you become proffeciant at the Skill dont wait until your life depends on your belt to utilize it.

My experience shows the last resort belt is rated equivalent to the belt loops on your pants. When the loops give way it is under your arms. It also is difficult to get to under your turnout coat and the S.C.B.A. strap. There are a few harnesses that are made to go in your bunker pants or coat that have easy access and are rated as a class 2 harness. Do some research and you may be able to retrofit your gear for one of these harnesses. If you get one remember to train with it till you can do it blindfolded. Good Luck! Stay Safe!
