Hello everyone Have a couple fire suggestions that can be used in Forest, and large grasslands fires and something for the folks that have channel fire fighting capabilities for whare houses and docks.

1. I have found something that works and is used here in the local county area that I came up with a yr ago that would be one hell of a good tactic for you firemen that fight fires in forest and wood land areas and or grass fires coveing large areas. Do you folks remember the high pressure Jim Beam Nozzles that some departments used a few yrs back like the late 60s and 70s well found a new way to fight fires with them and cover and smother a area. This idea is being used in some departments. and also used as a general coverage tactic to put moisture in unburned areas. Well folks here it is Use 4 high pressure fog nozzles and a high speed smoke edjector mounted on a small trailer and mount the guns on each corner in a full fog pattern, Id use something like a air boat motor and fan something that can put out allot of air. Mount this unit on a trailer and use it behind a tanker or pumper with a quick connect so you can furnish the water to the nozzels for an extended amout of time where you can pmp and ride along a fire area ,line or break. Id also use a good pump on the trailer that can have the pressure and power to get the nozzles operating. I have found that a truck manned with at least 2 people for saftey reasons in any fire would be good to have since you could have a one man unit lost or trapped and no one to see or know where they are SAFETY FIRST. I have found that when the fog guns are operating with the high speed fans you can throw allot of water and fog onto a fire and smother a very large area of at least 200 feet by 100 feet as you drive along a fire line. Something for you folks to think about herein CALIFORNIA, remember the Malibu fires and fire that came up the canyon and destroyed many homes well i found out this unit can throw a fog out in open air for about 500 feet or more up to a quater of a mile or more depeneding onthe winds. If you get up wind and use this sytem you can put water mist over a mile in areas where you are overlooking. Also in the foresty service this unit can be used also to keep large areas wet that are in the foward part of a fire to keep areas moist and also if used along fire lines or upwind on fire lines you can smother allot of fire like a on ground taker air drop.

2. HARBOR WHAREHOUSE IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FIRE DEPARTMENTS --- Folks I have found some devistating information that may affect every department that has docks and wharehouses on their list of target hazards. And there is a big secret that the government has kept from you that I have found out from a fire back in the 70s.In abilene Texas when I was at Dyess AFB.
History back in WW-2 the US government was afraid of Japanese Arial attacks on the country, our wharehouses and docks and military bases. The feds when built these wharehouses and bases that use the old wood structures, were all treated with a FLASH BURN WOOD. The wood and timbers and all the buildings were made to burn fast and hot and to burn to the ground in less that 30 minutes. I call it flash wood, in fact a major fire burned old abilene town when i was at dyess working the gate as a MP, and they lost many buildings and a large 3 to 4 story museum. It all burned down in 30 mins or less. Well the government has been quiet about this and I dont know if it is declassifed but there is a possibility that many wharehouses and bases still have this material in them , to burn, The reason is that the government was afraid of targets of oppertunity if we did get bomed so they made these buildings to burn fast and hard so they wouldnt light up other targets, on second waves of bombings. If you folks can test the wood in labs and or make a NO FIRFIGHTER ENTRY to these buildings it may save allot of firemans lives. Do not go inside to make a stand fighting the fire cause it would be like being in a broiler and the fire would fash over the firefighters heads. Only outside massive fire attacks should be used to keep the fires from extending to other buildings as per water curtins, and or surround and drown theory. I also found that on many places that have bays and wharves and shipping many of the tug boats in the water have fire fighting monitors on their tugs and they can pump just like a fire boat. However these folks havent had the training like firefighters to fight these types of fire. If you use Fireboats like Houston or LA california Id get all these folks together along the channel and have the US. COAST GUARD, and fire boat and fire trainers work to establish a good mutual aid network so you can ultilize these tugs in case you need extra firefighting equipment. The boats and tugs all have the sane waterway radio frequencies and can talk back and forth to one another, and can be used to help argument the fire forces along the channel industries and or ship or dock fires. Some of the channel industry folks can also help you since they fight chemical and refinery fires and can use the extra help along with the fire departments in a large fire situation.since we live in a time where many departments are always fighting larger fires and the equipment and hydrants are not available you can get some needed help in this area from the water side. As for an example a large ship fire or dock fire another 20 fire boats would always be needed and you have them so use and train these wonderful people they are there to help and are usally the first to arrive along with the fire boats to areas. Thanks for reading Mark

I don't know anything about"flash Wood" but the thing with the fan and high pressure nozzles sounds very familiar. the US forest service has a couple of trucks with really big fans on them. connected to the fans are lots of high pressure low volume nozzles that when coupled with the fan makes a "Minni" hurricane, they use it to pre wet ahead of brush and forest fires. It's pretty cool.
