Has anyone noticed the complete absence of the Webteam recently?
I have been trying to have a post removed for over a month that is far worse than anything I have ever written and they do not even have the professionalism or common decency to respond. I would be happy if they told me to go to hell.
But wanna bet that the next time someone complains about me I'm gone for good?

It appears that this is "how they roll"...... They tell us not to report stuff and then they do nothing......

They locked a perfectly fine thread in the apparatus/engineering forums where several of us were having a spirited discussion of a particular Mfr's aerial device.....Rumor has it that when a competing Mfr got dragged into it as a comparison, the competing Mfr got a hold of the webteam and all of a sudden....."POOF"! Lockdown!!!!
I bet as soon as they see the new thread about their golden children at Kentland they will shut that one down, too.
Hey webteam- you never answered my question....Are you or are you not closely associated with the PG County Fire Service and/or Kentland 33?

George, in order for someone to be missing, that implies they were once here in the first place. I don't concider locking a post every three months qualifying as "here".
So I think the proper phrase would be "still hasn't shown up"

I dunno George, in the past 8 yrs I've been around these boards I have tried to contact them a few times, mostly for profile/password/logon problems, and never once got an answer. Even when I was deployed. :( So I have to agree with NMfire.... can't "miss" what was never really "here" LOL :D:D

Well, there is that big summer "roll-out" of the new webpage that I've seen advertised for a few months, maybe that's it.

Agreed. There is plenty of senior forum members who could be considered for at least a moderator status for major problems that arise on the forum..

It's like big brother.....They only come around when they can look good. They have never answered any of my questions either. Maybe George and Harve should take over.

I'd be happy to do it. I was a mod for AOL years ago.

Many people here have offered to FH.com to volunteer their time, effort, and knowledge for the forums. The webteam refuses then disappears for months.

Speaking of the web team's rare thread closings.. who wants to lay down a bet that this will be the next "work" done by the web team? :D

Your on. Next question is how long will it take them?

Probably well after this thread is no longer active or in our thoughts. :)

An "intermediary" interceded on my behalf and accomplished in less than 12 hours what I had been trying to get the WT to do for a month. I'll let the samaritan remain anonymous unless he wants to "out" himself.

Ah, the good ole WT!!!! Defenders of the faith, protectors of the MUTTS!(Am I allowed to say that here?? I know they tried to ban it for a while.....)
Long have we toiled to improve this site, and long have we been ignored(OR threatened!). Mayhaps they are afraid??
None of us who wear the IACOJ will EVER be considered as candidates for WT.
We have pointed out the errors of their ways to them to many times!!
P.S. Cheffie, you are with out a doubt special.......

I am now proclaiming my candicy for Member Moderator of this forum.
I figure my calm, even tempered tone and the ability to calmly defuse any and all highly tense situations make me the only obvious choice.
Yep...having been booted myself I figure I have no chance so what the hell I might as well jump into the race.

They disappear because they have to go see their therapist to get their confidence back up.

Reading the first two paragraphs below, I. at first, thought perhaps George was writing under a nom de plume. Maybe not though.

It's not the first time that members have volunteered to moderate the forums. It's painfully obvious that the Webteam (it is probably an intern who is more than likely overwhelmed by the number of threads and topics) is rarely here. Threads have gotten totally out of hand; there were even a couple with racist remarks and obscenities that were up for way longer than they should have been. The perp had hacked into numerous threads spewing his vile crap. Those should have never been allowed to begin with.
It got to the point that I emailed the advertisers and let them know what they were sponsoring (I actually talked with one fire truck manufacturer who advertises his phone number in his ads on the site and in the trade journals). It was right after that the racist/obscenr threads were yanked. I'm not taking credit.. I am sure that there was a groundswell of people who felt the same way as I did.
Many of those who have asked to be mods here do it on other forums; so they have experience. The firehouse.com staff would have to trust those who they choose.
I think it would greatly improve the quality of the forum.

You are using logic again. Stop it!
It seems to me that the WT is way more beholden to the likes of cap'n bobby then they are to the users. My guess would be that they are sorry they ever even offered the forum.

As with any other commercial website, it's all about website hits and advertising revenue.
AND..there is nothing wrong with that in the very broad sense. The key is to get people connected with the site who can provide quality content.
That is what good volunteer moderators can offer.

Sounds like the WT is allowing us to play what has an resembance to what we call in here Kentucky "mountain basketball".
You call fouls on yourself and this usually to very rough play. The ole no blood no foul concept.:D
I have been banned twice generally during lively discussions with GW.I like playing mountain ball it keeps you honest!

They too, need to follow 2 in/2 out.
Therefore, only being 1 of them....they just stay out :D
