Just a reminder to stand behind what you post.........in the end, you can't hide behind a screen name.

Judge to order LoHud to name posters
By Rebecca Baker
The Journal News • June 27, 2008

The Journal News will have to turn over the identities of anonymous Web-site posters who may have slandered an ex-congressman on the newspaper's Web site, according to attorneys involved in the case.

Westchester County Judge Rory Bellantoni will issue an order to LoHud.com to release information to identify "SAVE10543," "hadenough," and "aoxomoxoa" for comments they made about former Rep. Richard Ottinger and his wife, June Ottinger.

Simple fix, before you go in to 'slander' someone, get yourself a nice anonymous yahoo account. Muddy the waters even further by getting one from another country... Better still, make sure that what you say is the truth, and can be backed with evidence.

Exactly. With your name out for everyone to see, you think twice about posting stuff. At least I do, George, maybe not so much. :D

I find there are alot of little people syndrome affected people when it comes to websites, forums or general internet generated sites, you know these people often hide behind their walls.

I base my comments (Most of the time anyhow) on fact, I approve being corrected, I'm not always right but Slander is an awful thing, I'm all for the actions being taken against these people.

George,

I wish people would have to use their real names at NJ.com and the dailyrecord.com. The crap people are writing about the event that took place in Denville is mind numbing.

I read it the first day and then had to stop. It is disgusting.

I think what you have there is a bunch of idiots from Newark and that area who are capitalizing on the moment. I can't wait until the real story comes out and they all look like fools.

(For those of you not in NJ, Cop pulls over a car for MV Violations. Car drags PO down street. PO gets off five rounds and kills driver. Papers painting the driver as a hero who was murdered. Riles their readers up to spew out nothing but hatred and vitriole against the cop and police in general. Typical crap).

That driver should consider himself lucky, the cops in Pittsburgh would have just shot him, violations or not.

I never had a problem with Jersey cops when I lived there for 6 years. Pittsburgh on the other hand...Forget about it!

How can they paint the driver as a hero?! Someone dies at the hands of a police officer they are usually like bad guys. Sounds like that one was a real b**t**d. Someone should remind those readers that being dead don't equal being a hero. They should keep in mind the circumstances too. I guess it shows up all those cop haters in their true colours. Some people will take any excuse to have a go at the PD.
