Been sort of looking at Fire Down Below and saw the truck scenes where Segall is being run down by an old Mack truck. The scene went into a gravel (mining) pit and started to wonder something.
Anyone remember the movie with Dennis Hopper - The Duel? Wonder if the mining pit in 'Down Below is the same one as The Duel? Any thoughts?
On a side note. Too bad about the Chevy.... what a waste of a really nice truck. :( :(

I think you're talking about,"Duel" ( no the) with Dennis Weaver who played Chester on Gunsmoke. It was directed by Steven Spielberg. I havent seen it in a few years but it's a good one.

I always liked the old Chevy truck that Bill Murray destroys in "GroundHog day."
That, and the old Ford LTD (Or Mercury??) that John Candy had in the movie "Uncle Buck."

YA. Thats what I get for relying on memory and not looking it up first. Wasn't so much about the actors as about the action, this time. :)
And thanks Len for the research. I haven't see Duel in many years either, but there was a special on TV a few weeks ago with Steven Spielberg, and they showed a few clips which included the run through the gravel pit, and over the edge. Just something about that big orange Mack going over that reminded me of it.

Then there was Uncle Jessie's Ford pickup in the Dukes of Hazzard series. Forget the General Lee, everytime something was wrong with the 'General' Bo and Luke were ripping up the roads in that white Ford. Let's see what Uncle Jessie had under the hood of that ride.. For my imagination, I'm going with a 429... :D
Another great movie car: the ambulance used in 'Ghostbusters'...
Where is Harve in these discussions? He is always a plethora of information of the automotive genre..
Oh, yeah, this was a thread of movie trivia... Whoops.. I'm sorry. Malahat made my thoughts stray when he mentioned movie vehicles..
