Our company is active in the protection of industrial equipment used in explosion hazardous areas.
Our latest safety product development is an equipment integrated multi gas detection system that will shut down most powered industrial equipment (electric or internal combustion) automatically when it detection 20% LEL. The system sounds an alarm at 10% LEL. Upon every startup the system automatically calibrates itself with 0.5% propane.
The system is so simple and effective because it eliminates 80-90% of the equipment ignition sources by turning the equipment off before ignitable levels of flammable gases can develop around the equipment.
The industries handling flammable material have been reluctant to investigate or try this new development. This is very surprising to us, especially if you take into account that most of the mobile powered industrial equipment allowed and in explosion hazardous areas does not even have to be tested and certified for this purpose (UL 583, UL558, NFPA505 and OSHA 1910.178).
We were hoping to get some feedback on this equipment integrated gas detection system and its concepts behind it. It is our believe as a company that fire fighters are the only Authority Having Jurisdiction that have a true vested interest in improving public and facility safety. This believe stems from the simple fact that firefighters are called upon to put their lives on the line when corporations are unwilling to implement adequate safety measures.
