I was just curious to see if anyone is planning on going to this. It is in Charleston, SC this coming weekend. I am trying to decide if I should go or not. Does anyone know if this will be a good thing to go to or not. Will I be able to bring anything back for my dept.?

YES definately go...It's to raise money for a memorial of our fallen brothers. All the speakers are working for free donating their time and services. It's similar to what was done in Woscester,Mass. As far as bringing anything back. I believe there will be venders. If you see the speakers and pay attention you can learn something. That you can bring back.

I am going and heading out on Friday from Wilmington, NC. This symposium is a win-win for anyone that attends. We have one Fire Engineer in our dept, that has been to one similar to this one and he has had nothing but positive things to say about it.

I figure that if I go then I can come back on shift Monday with a refreshed awareness of what could happen and the measures that I can take to keep me and my brothers from making mistakes that could be quite costly. GO!

Just got back.

There was a lot of good information. It was very memorable seeing and hearing the speakers that I have only read about (or read from) in the past.

I enjoyed all the speakers but most of all the lecture from Chief Salka FDNY, and Chief Smith (ret) DCFD
